Viking Steel

Our classic, robust training javelin come in all weights from 900 down to 400 grams in the budget price range. Viking javelins is primarily intended for beginners, who can use this model both for training at the competition since both the 800 g, 700 g and 600 g models are IAAF certified. For more advanced throwers Viking is best suited to throwing in volume training and for training with "overweight" implements (ie throw with javelins that are heavier than the thrower normally use in competitions)

NORDIC SPORT establishes flex chart javelin range!

To indicate that a javelin is made for certain distance feels, after the rule changes that came into effect from 1986 onwards anachronistic. Nordic Sport have gradually left the old way of thinking and most of our models do not have now the old meters designation. We are now introducing a completely new system, taking into account the javelins stiffness degree in combination with other aerodynamic factors.

Stiffness and other aerodynamic factors become more important the higher the speed of release of a javelin is. Speed of release, coupled with appropriate angles of release and clean hit of the spear, is dependent on the individual athlete's physical capabilities, technical skill and sense of equipment. The lower flex a javelin has, the greater requirement for throwers both technical and physical ability.

Javelin with flex 6.0 or lower is recommended only for skilled throwers with capacity over 70 (men) and 50 (women) meters, but significant benefits with these javelins is only visible when technically pure throws of 80 and 60 meters is achieved. Javelin with flex 6.1 to 8.0 is slightly more forgiving, but you can throw very far. At flex 8.1 to 10.0, the javelin designed so that they will land with the tip first clear even at moderate throws. These are best suited for example for Decathlon throwers, who do not have javelin as one of its main disciplines. Javelin with flex 10.1 and higher is recommended only as beginner javelin and for volume throwing in training!

Javelin made of carbon fiber is typically our most rigid javelins, and therefore most demanding, but also those of a really talented throwers gives it maximum potential. Javelin made of steel is a bit more forgiving than carbon fiber javelin. Javelin, made of fiberglass fits only 600 g javelins or lighter and shows the characteristics that are relatively close carbon fiber javelin, but is slightly more forgiving.
