This weekend, Gothenburg hosts a pole vault carneval, in the famous shopping centre Nordstan, in the centre of Gothenburg City. 71 vaulters from 8 contries attends at this popular competition, where shoppers and people passing by offers an exiting sport event in the commercial part of Gotheburg.
Nordic Sport has been present for the first two days and as our representive I have seen a lot of young and talented pole vaulters, a hand full of personal best-results and a great competition in an interesting environment.
Today (Saturday), Malin Dahlström, born 1989 (SWE) won the Women´s competition, jumping with her glass fibre Nordic Pole. Malin jumped 4,30 m last Tuesday and today she tried to beat her personal best by jumping 4,31. Unfortynaley she didn´t make it....this time.
Melker Svärd Jacobsson, born 1994 (SWE) won the Men´s competition with his carbon fiber Nordic Pole (Evo). Melker broke his personal best (5,11 m) by jumping 5.30 m. This young talented 16-years old (!) was thrilled after the competition and the spectators inside the shopping centre applaud the youngster breaking his personal best by 19 cm.
Tomorrow the boy´s competition will end the Pole vault carneval, starting at 11.00 am.
