New season

With the ice-hockey season getting under way here in Europe and the NHL start imminent, I thought it would be easy to find something to write about but the first week for ages that the Phoenix Coyotes sale hasn't made headlines proved to be light on other news.

Last season's losing finalists, Detroit Red Wings, have also lost a few players. All in all, they will have to be without players that answered for 88 goals and 99 assists of last season's totals. However, a mix of old faces, existing stars and youngsters advancing their positions from last year will more than replace the absent stars the team management hopes.

Concussion has become popular in the NHL! Not getting it of course but trying to avoid it and the problems it causes. The National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association are sponsoring a video produced by the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the National Athletic Trainers' Association that is intended to educate the public, athletes, health professionals, coaches, parents, administrators and others.

The Elite series here in Sweden is starting at last this evening. Just now I'm watching Swedish champions Färjestad at home to my local team Skellefteå. I won't tell you what the score is right now!

All the best.
