Up to IAAF rule 183.9, the lower part of Pole Vault standards must be covered.

Rule 183.9: "The metallic structure of the base and the lower part of the uprights above the landing area must be covered with padding of appropriate material in order to provide protection to the athletes and the poles."

Swedish National Indoor Campionship

This weekend Nordic Sport covered the Swedish National Indoor Championship in Athletics, which was held in the city of Gothenburg. We are happy to report that Melker Svärd Jacobsson, jumping with Nordic poles, came in second place and won the silver medal in the men´s competition. Malin Dahlström and Alissa Söderberg, both jumping with Nordic poles, won the gold and the bronze medal in the women´s event.

He did it again

Melker Svärd Jacobsson did it again. 17 year old broke his personal best with 15 cm, just 3 weeks after his last PB of 5.30 m.

Pole vault carneval in Gothenburg, Sweden

This weekend, Gothenburg hosts a pole vault carneval, in the famous shopping centre Nordstan, in the centre of Gothenburg City. 71 vaulters from 8 contries attends at this popular competition, where shoppers and people passing by offers an exiting sport event in the commercial part of Gotheburg.

Nordic Sport has been present for the first two days and as our representive I have seen a lot of young and talented pole vaulters, a hand full of personal best-results and a great competition in an interesting environment.

4th European Pole Vault Conference

Heike Henkel, Germany's 1992 Olympic gold medallist in the High Jump, has confirmed that she will give the opening address at the 4th European Pole Vault and High Jump Conference, to be held at the German Sport University in Cologne, March 19-21.

Liz is born 1994 and the result is considered world class.

Silver and Bronze in pole vault

We are very glad to congratulate Minna Nikkanen and Vanessa Vandy from Finland for the pole vault medals in Junior European Championships -22 held in Kaunas.

Hello! 
This will be my first blog post at Nordic Sports blog page. I am 19 years old (turns 20 in May) and living in Turku, Finland. I have jumped on the pole since I was 13 years old.
